Welcome to On Eagles' Wings Farm!
SEQ CHAPTER \h \r 1On Eagles Wings Farm
“He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.” Isaiah 40:29-31

Our Dream
On Eagles Wings Farm will be a fully functioning, self sustainable farm complete with fruits, vegetables and animals, where kids who are enduring hardships in life can come and live in a Christ-centered family environment where they will be surrounded by love, encouragement, hard-work, discipline, intensive family counseling and Christian morals and principals. The kids who come to stay for long or short term will have full interaction with the farm environment such as plowing up the land, reaping at harvest time, working with the animals, and other normal, daily farm chores.
They will also be encouraged in their talents, whether it is in sports, music, dance, or so forth. They will be given daily tasks that will prepare them for the world such as cooking, cleaning, building things, taking care of siblings and solving daily problems that they might encounter when they leave the farm.
Who We Want To Reach
An average of 10.5% of children living in Wyandotte County and 6.88% in Kansas are or have been in state supervised, family-based foster care. (CTC)
We want to offer a home especially to those who have been abandoned or orphaned. These children will be given a chance to stay permanently in one of our homes with house parents who are trained in helping and counseling with children in their situation. Youth in these programs will also be trained in life and job skills in order to be prepared for life on their own or to continue on to college.
Another group of children (ages 0-17) will be kids in foster care in need of short-term placement or emergency shelter (ppc/police protective custody). There is a huge shortage of foster and shelter beds in the KC Metro area due to the high volume of kids in these situations. We hope to alleviate situations where kids have to be taken three hours or more outside of the KC metro area due to this lack of housing.
One out of every seven youth (15%) will runaway before their 18th birthday (Research Triangle Institute, 1995).
32% have attempted suicide at some point in their lives. (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services [HHS])
On Eagles Wings Farm will provide shelter to runaways, troubled and at-risk youth. Our main goal for this program is to get these kids back home by means of mandatory family counseling. One of the requirements for staying at the farm will be that both parents and kids will be involved in at least weekly mediation and counseling.
Our Homes
The number of kids that will be able to stay at On Eagles Wings Farm will depend on the number of homes that are available. We would like to keep it to a minimum of 6-8 children per house. Our hope is to first buy land with a house on it and start taking in kids on a small scale. We hope we will be able to begin building several homes soon after the purchase of the farm so that we can house as many kids as we can.
There will be house parents in each home that will be full time parent/counselors. The children will attend public schools during their stay or will go to an on-site school at the farm if it is available. Hopes for an educational facility on-site are part of future development plans as well as a focus on environmentally safe living by recycling and using solar, wind and water technology to provide energy.
